Since its inception in 1995, X Games has evolved from The Extreme Games in Providence, Rhode Island, into the leading action sports competition and lifestyle brand, spotlighting the world’s best action sports athletes at the summer and winter versions of the X Games against the backdrop of each individual host city. One of the most complete youth culture experiences available, X Games now features an enhanced sport, music, gaming and festival lineup. Complementing the sports with the world’s top musical performers, X Games Music has featured performances by world-class artists including Metallica, Kanye West, Tiesto, Nicki Minaj, Macklemore and many more. X Games events have also featured interactive festival villages, offering experiences for fans of all ages.

Returning for the 18th year, X Games will take over Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen Snowmass, Colorado with the world’s top Ski, Snowboard, Snowmobile, Snow Bike and Moto athletes, world-class musical performances and an interactive festival village experience. Now in its third year, X Games Norway will bring Ski and Snowboard Big Air and Skateboard Street competitions back to downtown Oslo and to Fornebu in Baerum in celebration of Norway’s constitution day on 17 May. The Big Air events will be held on a scaffold jump, much like the sold out competitions in 2016 where 20,000 spectators watched the first-ever X Games in Norway. Similarly, Skateboard Street competitions will return to the X Games legacy park at Skur 13.

ESPN, in collaboration with REnextop, a leading action sports platform in China, will bring a summer and winter X Games event to China in 2019. For the first time in the event’s nearly 25 year history of international events, this new collaboration will see both summer and winter events staged within the same country in the same year under the X Games banner. The first X Games China event will feature summer sport disciplines and is scheduled for late May in Shanghai.
Since its inception as a year-round action sports content destination in 2014, the World of X Games brand has grown from just a weekly program on ABC into a full content series across television, live event, digital and social media platforms. Throughout 2019, World of X Games will feature action sports-focused content, including the popular Real Series video competitions, new Road to X signature series, Being Series athlete profiles and curated content from the top action sports athletes, brands and influencers. The series now includes digital and social content, including Skaters in Cars, Booth Boyz and the ZOOM photography competitions.
